Indoor Hockey World Cup 2023 being played in South Africa

24 of the worlds best teams are competing in the Indoor Hockey World Cup 2023 in Tshwane for the 6th annual event from 5 – 11 February.

24 of the worlds best teams are competing in the Indoor Hockey World Cup teams in Tshwane, fighting to claim the title on the newly laid playing surface at the 6th annual event from 5 – 11 February 2023.

Both the men’s and women’s competition has 12 nations competing in two pools, six in Pool A and six in Pool B. The pool games wrap up on 9 February and with the quarter finals on Friday the 10th, semifinals and finals on Saturday the 11th of February.

South Africa in the Indoor Hockey World Cup

The South African Men’s team are currently fourth in their pool. They play their final pool game 9 February at 9:40 against Argentina. The South African Women’s team play the very next game at 10:50 against New Zealand as they look to improve on their current fifth place in the pool. Both teams are searching for a place in the quarter finals.

20 year old sensation Cassiem Mustapha is currently the second highest goal scorer in the men’s division after his FIVE goals in the match against the Czech Republic.

Where to watch the games

The Heartfelt Arena in Tshwane has been fitted with an international standard playing surface and temporary seating to accommodate more than 3000 spectators to host the Indoor Hockey World Cup. Tickets for the event are available at itickets.co.za and range from R75 for a half day kids pass to R1400 for a hospitality ticket.

All games are also being carried free to air in South Africa on SABC Sport. Games can also be viewed internationally at watch.hockey with a free account.
