STELLENBOSCH, SOUTH AFRICA – APRIL 03: warren Whiteley and Allister Coetzee during the Springbok training camp and media briefing at Stellenbosch Academy of Sport on April 03, 2017 in Stellenbosch, South Africa.

The silence surrounding Allister Coetzee’s future as Springbok coach was finally broken on Friday as SA Rugby revealed that the two parties have decided to part ways by mutual consent.

Since taking over the role in 2016 from Heyneke Meyer, Coetzee has had a tough time in achieving consistent results and the Springboks have slipped to sixth in World Rugby Rankings, a spot below Scotland.

With a win record of just 44%, his tenure was a painful one to endure for Springbok fans as the side suffered some heavy losses and, following the news of him vacating his post, many were pleased to see the back of him.

However, not many were to pleased with seeing the back of Toetie as some suspected that there could have been a more sinister reason to the Boks’ decline during his tenure.
