Cape Town Met field to be confirmed on Wednesday as just 14 remain

There are only 14 entrants left in the quest for victory in the Cape Town Met with the final field announcement set for Wednesday.

There are only 14 entrants left in the quest for victory in the 160th running of the R2 million Grade 1 World Sports Betting Cape Town Met with the final field announcement set for Wednesday, 19 January.

Final declarations for Saturday, 29 January‘s race at Kenilworth in Cape Town are due by 11:00 on Wednesday, with the unveiling of the field to be confirmed at a function later in the day.

Of the 14 still in the running, seven have not accepted as yet.

Trainers have until Wednesday morning to do so.

According to the Sporting Post website, the ‘uncommitted’ list at the time of publishing is: Sean Tarry’s 6-year-old Cirillo, who was found coughing after running downfield at Turffontein on Saturday, L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate runner-up Kommetdieding, Vaughan Marshall’s star Linebacker, Mike de Kock’s SA Triple Crown Champ Malmoos, Candice Bass-Robinson’s duo of Peninsula Handicap winner Firealley and Marina, and Paul Matchett’s SA Triple Tiara queen War Of Athena.
