PGA Tour veteran Bubba Watson has confirmed he is set for a lengthy period on the sidelines due to a knee injury.

The two-time Masters winner has played just nine events in 2022, with his best finish being a solo second at the Saudi International.

However, Watson appeared to be back to playing some of his best golf when he tied the tournament record with a sizzling second round 63 at the PGA Championship at Southern Hills last week.

Unfortunately, Bubba Watson took to social media on Tuesday to congratulate Justin Thomas for winning the PGA Championship – and at the same time confirm a lengthy layoff.

“I’ve been fighting through some knee issues and I’m disappointed to say I have to pull out of the Charles Schwab Challenge this week,” wrote the 12-time PGA Tour winner on his Instagram.

“My doctors have confirmed that I have a torn meniscus. We’re figuring out treatment options, but it’s looking like a 4-6 week recovery before I can get back to playing. Hope to be back at it soon!”
