Louis Oosthuizen keeps on rising in latest world golf rankings

Louis Oosthuizen has risen one further spot in the latest world golf rankings after his joint- runner-up finish at the PGA Tour’s 3M Open.

Justin Harding missed out on a third European Tour title at the weekend when he lost in a playoff in the Cazoo Open in Wales, but he barged his way back into the top 100 in the world with his runner-up finish.

He climbed 20 spots on the Official World Golf Ranking with his performance, moving into 94th position, and bringing the number of South Africans inside the top 100 to nine from the eight last week – Erik van Rooyen is just outside the top 100 in 110th.

Charl Schwarztel was the other big climber inside the world’s top 100, climbing into fifth place on the South African ranking list, and reaching 74th on the world rankings list after climbing 25 spots thanks to his share of second in the PGA Tour’s 3M Open.

Schwartzel shared second with his good friend Louis Oosthuizen, who climbed one place into eighth in the rankings.

The two players representing South Africa this week in the Olympic Games in Tokyo, Garrick Higgo and Christiaan Bezuidenhout, remained the second and third ranked players respectively in South Africa.

Higgo climbed two places into 41st on the world list, and Bezuidenhout remained unchanged in 46th as the pair jetted off to Japan.
