PGA Tour winners Carlos Ortiz and Matthew Wolff have been included for the event in Portland, along with Eugenio Chacarra, the world No 2 ranked amateur.

Altogether, nine new players have been recruited for the tournament which starts on Thursday, 30 June, which means nine players who played in the first event at the Centurion Golf Club in England will miss out.

Ortiz, Chacarra, Wolff, Bryson DeChambeau, Yuka Inamori, Brooks Koepka, Patrick Reed, Pat Perez and Abraham Ancer are the new recruits made by commissioner Greg Norman.

Ratchanon Chantananuwat, Oliver Fisher, Pablo Larrazabal, Viraj Madappa, Andy Ogletree, David Puig and Kevin Yuan have been left out, along with South Africans Oliver Bekker and JC Ritchie.

It’s unclear what guarantees each of these players has. It’s been reported that marquee names such as Dustin Johnson and Phil Mickelson have signed long-term contracts, but for the lesser-known players, their futures are unclear.

The field in Portland is significantly stronger than the first 48-man field who played earlier this month.

Seven South Africans will compete at the second LIV Golf Invitational Series event

The acquisition of DeChambeau, Reed and Koepka alone will certainly add more eyes to the event.

Koepka has been made the team captain of Smash GC, while DeChambeau will lead Crushers.

There will still be seven South Africans in the field, namely: Charl Schwartzel, Hennie du Plessis, Branden Grace, Louis Oosthuizen, Justin Harding, Shaun Norris and Ian Snyman.

The above mentioned seven players all competed in the opening event.

Once again LIV Golf will offer a $25 million purse for this week’s tournament, with the winner pocketing $4 million.

Each member of the winning team will also take home an additional $750 000.
