Proteas legend Vernon Philander has shown he’s a man of many talents after recording the rarest feat of all on a golf course – a hole-in-one.

Philander, now 35, played 64 Tests for South Africa before hanging up his spikes in early 2020.

Nowadays, with more time on his hands, Philander has turned his focus to the fairways of the world.

Blessed with effortless power, Philander hits a golf ball the proverbial mile (I’ve been lucky enough to witness – and marvel – first-hand).

However, until today, that elusive ‘perfect shot’ had escaped him.

Not anymore!

Standing on the 12th hole at Mount Edgecombe Country Club Estate, Philander’s tee shot found the bottom of the cup for a hole-in-one.

A clearly elated Philander took to social media to document the shot.

Mount Edgecombe themselves congratulated the former speedster on his hole-in-one.

In addition to his 64 Tests for his country, Vernon Philander played 30 ODIs and seven T20Is.
