On the par-3 4th hole, Daffue’s tee shot hit the green and rolled some distance before disappearing into the hole.

MJ Daffue was born in Pretoria

As his tee shot didn’t land near the pin, the last thing Daffue was expecting was a perfect fluke – especially as those watching remained puzzlingly quiet.

When he got to the green, he searched for his ball before being told it was in fact at the bottom of the cup.

“Why did you guys not say anything?” he asked those in attendance.

MJ Daffue, who was born in Pretoria, earned enough points on the Korn Ferry Tour in 2022 to qualify for the PGA Tour in 2022/23.

He signed for a two-under-par 70, four shots adrift of the opening round leaders.

UPDATE: Daffue posted a second round of 70 as well, to lie 4-under par at the halfway mark, well inside the cut line during the ongoing second round of play.
