George Lebese and his agent have reportedly met with Mamelodi Sundowns to discuss the player’s future, as he has struggled to get regular game time at the club.

Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder George Lebese is reportedly frustrated by his lack of game time and contemplating a move away from the reigning league champions.

The 29-year-old made the switch from Kaizer Chiefs last year – where he was a regular starter – to the Chloorkop-based outfit where he is yet to feature in a competitive match this season.

The Mamelodi-born player’s last appearance in any competition came during the goalless draw away to Bloemfontein Celtic during the latter stages of last season’s triumphant campaign, where he played for 77 minutes in what was the last of his ten matches so far for the club.

George Lebese frustrated with lack of game time

According to Soccer Laduma, Lebese has been in talks with Sundowns to discuss his future, and that club is said to understand his frustration.

His agent, Steve Kapeluschnik told the publication;

“George has worked really, really hard to try and get into the team at Sundowns since he got there. He was put on a special programme and went on to lose a lot of weight and got into the sort of shape they wanted to see.

“He has done whatever has been asked, and of course he’s frustrated that he’s not playing because he came to Sundowns to play. We’ve now met with the club and explained his frustrations, which they understand, and they seemed very sympathetic to those frustrations. Whether he goes or not we don’t know. Let’s wait and see what happens in the coming months.”

Lebese’s struggle for game time has been complicated by the arrival of a host of new attacking options, which include the talented Lebohang Maboe, while seasoned pair Sibusiso Vilakazi and Themba Zwane have both also slotted in his favoured left wing on occasion.
