Where other countries in Europe take winter breaks, England does no such thing. The one country in the region that needs it the most given its freezing weather actually goes the other way: December is a plentiful time for EPL fixtures.

Tonight we’ve got three intriguing ties on the cards, to kick-start a bumper midweek fixture list involving every single team. Fresh from the weekend’s pulsating action, tonight’s six sides will have points to prove, and momentum to build.

EPL Fixtures, 12 December

Burnley V Stoke City, 19:45

What a season the Clarets are having. The Lancashire club are defying all expectations, currently sat in seventh place. Sean Dyche has got these perennial strugglers away from the drop zone, and level on points with Spurs. Burnely have lost just three games all season, and are fresh from a 1-0 win over Watford on Saturday.

In stark contrast, we have Stoke City. The Potters have found it tough going this season, and hover just above the relegation zone. Their manager Mark Hughes is very much treading water with his position, and a loss tonight could crank up the pressure on the beleaguered boss.

Crystal Palace V Watford, 20:00

Palace are steadily accumulating points, but haven’t quite been able to drag themselves out of the bottom three. They missed a golden chance when Christian Benteke fluffed a 90th minute penalty in the 2-2 draw against Bournemouth on Sunday.

Watford can be very pleased with their endeavours this year, as they occupy ninth place. They’ll fancy their chances against the Eagles, as they’ve been tough to handle on their travels before being turned over by Burnley three days ago

Huddersfield Town V Chelsea, 20:00

Make no mistake, this is a tough place to go on a cold, December evening. The Terriers have been a little goal shy recently, but have picked up vital points at home all season, and won’t be scared to put up a fight against the Londoners.

Meanwhile, Chelsea’s biggest enemy seems to be consistency. They lost again on Saturday, in a shock defeat at West Ham. One thing the Blues have done well this year is respond positively to their losses, so it should be a Christmas cracker at the John Smith’s.
