LONDON, ENGLAND – MARCH 03: Son Heung-Min of South Korea and Tottenham Hotspur celebrates after scoring a goal to make it 1-0 during the Premier League match between Tottenham Hotspur and Huddersfield Town at Wembley Stadium on March 3, 2018 in London, England.

Tottenham go to Brighton in the Premier League on Tuesday needing to bounce back from their first defeat in 15 at the weekend.

Manchester City overpowered Mauricio Pochettino’s side for a 3-1 Wembley win that took them to the brink of the EPL title on Saturday.

Christian Eriksen had given the hosts hope with a 42nd-minute strike to make it 1-2 but Raheem Sterling made the win safe for Pep Guardiola’s team.

It was a defeat that left the Champions League qualification door slightly ajar for London rivals Chelsea.

The Blues are seven points behind Spurs with five games to go.

But fans of arch-rivals Arsenal will tell you all about ‘St Totteringham’s Day’, where the men in white have been known to wobble at the business end, so to speak.

Brighton’s recent travails should give Spurs hope of putting all that to bed, though.

The Seagulls have lost three of their last four as they struggle to wheeze over the finish line to avoid relegation back to the Championship.

Chris Hughton’s side are faltering but, like Tottenham, the seven point gap below them should prove enough to keep them in the EPL.

They also played their part in a derby thriller at Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Ex-Eagle Glenn Murray and Jose Izquierdo both reduced the arrears during a five-goal first half in which they were blown away by Wilfried Zaha.

A second-half equalizer wasn’t forthcoming, as Palace sealed a fourth game without a win for their rivals.

Defeats to Everton and Leicester as well as a home draw with Huddersfield are all the Sussex side have managed since their famous win over Arsenal at the AMEX in early March.

If they can sneak another improbable three points against a north London giant here, they’ll be almost home and hosed.

Brighton team and injury news

Davy Propper continues to serve his suspension.

Steve Sidwell and Izzy Brown, meanwhile, remain long-term injury crocks.

Tottenham team and injury news

Danny Rose and Harry Winks are definite casualties for Spurs.

Pochettino could also make further changes ahead of his side’s FA Cup semi-final against Manchester United at the weekend.
