The Proteas nearly found themselves pollinated at the Bullring on Saturday, as a swarm of insects decided to disrupt the cricket.
There’s always a buzz around the Wanderers – and no more so than today.
With Sri Lanka 117/4 in the third ODI in Johannesburg a swarm descended on the outfield, taking up residence in Quinton de Kock’s helmet.
With the players ducking for cover, umpires Richard Kettleborough and Adrian Holdstock applied a hive mind and took the players to one side.
Rather than letting nature take its course, ground staff took matters – if not the insects – into their own hands and blasted them away with fire extinguishers.
