Triumphant Mumbai Indians progress to the final of the WPL

With a spot in the final on the line, the Mumbai Indians Women took an emphatic victory over the UP Warriorz in the WPL.

With a spot in the Women’s Premier League final on the line, the Mumbai Indians Women took an emphatic victory over the UP Warriorz who failed to bat out their 20 overs.

The UP Warriorz won the toss and elected to bowl.

MUMBAI INDIANS SET A TARGET OF 183

Natalie Sciver was imposing on the crease scoring an unbeaten 72* off 38 deliveries to top score for the team. Amelia Kerr scored 29 runs off 19 and Hayley Matthews had a strike rate of 100 with 26 from 26. In the end, the Mumbai Indians scored 182/4.

Sophie Ecclestone was the pick of the bowlers for the UP Warriorz with 2/39. Anjali Sarvani took 1/17 and Parshavi Chopra managed 1/25

UP WARRIORZ BOWLED OUT IN 17.4 OVERS

Kiran Prabhu Navgire was the shining light of the UP Warriorz with 43 runs off 27 deliveries. Deepti Sharma scored 16 off 20 and Grace Harris scored 14 from 12 balls were the only two who managed to hit double figures. In the end, the innings ended in 17.4 overs with the team 110 all out.

Issy Wong tore through the opposition picking up 4/15 one shy of Marizanne Kapp’s fiver. Saika Ishaque took 2/24 and in her one over Jintimani Kalita picked up 1/2. Both Hayley Matthews and Natalie Sciver bowled three overs and ended with 1/21.

THE INAUGURAL WPL FINAL

The final is at 16:00 CAT on Sunday, 26 March when the Mumbai Indians will take on the table toppers the Delhi Capitals Women. Both teams won six of their eight round-robin games but having a superior nett run rate the latter progressed straight to the final.
