Ultimately the Proteas had the last laugh on Sunday as Temba Bavuma’s magnificent third career century inspired the Proteas to an incredible 343-run chase that lifted them to a series-winning victory over England in the second One-Day International (ODI) played in Bloemfontein on Sunday.

There were certainly some talking points during the match, one of which saw England bowler Sam Curran ‘celebrating’ the dismissal of Bavuma for 109 runs in particularly hostile fashion.

After Bavuma chopped the ball onto his stumps, Curran deviated in the direction of Bavuma, clearly glaring and screaming in his direction after claiming the wicket.

Numerous social media users have slammed the behaviour of the England star, while also questioning whether the ICC would take any action.

As it’s turned out, Curran will be fined 15% of his match fee and has been given one demerit point.

Curran was found guilty of breaching breached Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to using any language, action or gesture towards a batter upon their dismissal which has the potential to provoke an aggressive reaction from the dismissed batter.

According to an ICC statement, Curran admitted the offence and accepted the sanction.

Meanwhile, England captain Jos Buttler also showed an ugly side to him as he clashed with Proteas batsman Rassie van der Dussen on Sunday.

During the match, there was another moment that had South African supporters up in arms as England captain and keeper Jos Buttler could be heard chirping Proteas batsman Rassie van der Dussen from behind the stumps.

Having bumped into the Proteas star while trying to collect the ball, Buttler proceeded to ask Van der Dussen if he had a problem, while then strangely suggesting that “it’s not always about you”.

It caused many to remember a past incident where Buttler was involved in a nasty spat with former Proteas bowler Vernon Philander.

The third and final match of the series is scheduled to take place in Kimberley on Wednesday.
