Du Plessis fired the Chennai Super Kings to the Indian Premier League (IPL) title on Friday, but both he and Steyn were left unimpressed with CSA.

CSA congratulate Ngidi, snub du Plessis and Tahir

This is because, after du Plessis top scored with a score of 86 from just the 59 balls, a feat that earned him the Player of the Match award en-route to leading the Chennai Super Kings to IPL victory, both he and Proteas fast bowling legend Steyn had noticed seemingly sinister actions from both the CSA official Instagram and Twitter pages.

The Chennai Super Kings had three South African’s in their squad, with du Plessis being accompanied by another T20 World Cup snubbed player Imran Tahir as well as current Proteas fast bowler Lungi Ngidi, in the yellow strip of the IPL side. But for one reason or the other, when the Kings went on to claim the victory, it was only Ngidi who has congratulated by the official CSA Instagram and Twitter pages, which both du Plessis and Steyn noticed.

du Plessis comments

Well, noticing was effectively just one part of the debacle, du Plessis, in fact went as far as commenting on the CSA Instagram post, making his feelings about it known. The post read: “Congratulations @lungingidi on claiming the 2021 IPL title with Chennai Super Kings”. Du Plessis then commented saying “@cricket_South_Africa Really???”.

Steyn also commented below and he was more than happy to let his feelings about the post from CSA known.

Steyn also comments

“Who’s running this account? Last I checked Faf (du Plessis) isn’t even retired, Imran (Tahir) isn’t retired, both these guys have given years of service to CSA and they not worth a mention? Disgusting.” He said.

If that wasn’t enough, the recently retired Steyn, took to his official Twitter account to comment further on the potential situation between CSA , du Plessis and Tahir.

He went further on his Twitter account

“CSA opening a can of worms or themselves with their Twitter and Instagram. Whoever’s running those accounts need a talking too”. Said Steyn.

To add further fuel to the fire, the post has since been deleted by the CSA. Both du Plessis and Tahir were left out of the Proteas T20 World Cup squad despite both confirming that they were available for selection, following their impressive form in that format in IPL earlier this year. Tahir even took to his official Twitter account to express his feelings after being snubbed.
