Captain Temba Bavuma struck a magnificent Test century in the Proteas’ second innings of the second Test against the West Indies at the Wanderers on Friday.

Bavuma produced a proverbial captain’s knock as he played the anchor role for the Proteas on day three of the second Test after the West Indies had come out firing this morning to dominate the first session of the day.

As it stands, the Proteas are on 206/6 after 69 overs and lead by a whopping 275 runs.

Bavuma started the day on 35 runs and patiently went about his batting in the first two sessions, despite losing two batting partners in the form of Ryan Rickelton and Heinrich Klaasen.

He was joined by Wiaan Mulder as the crease and together they put up a wonderful partnership, which saw Bavuma head into the tea break on 81* runs.

Bavuma went for it at the start of the third and final session and soon he notched up his second-ever Test century from just 191 balls. His knock included 21 fours.
