South Africa vs Pakistan: The Proteas meet Babar Azam’s men in a match that is a must-win for both sides.

South Africa hold the edge when it comes to log position which leaves Pakistan under pressure.

Defeat for the Proteas wouldn’t end their campaign but would make qualification for the semi-finals tricky.

However the balance of pressure right now appears to be pressing down on Pakistan.

“We all know every game in the World Cup is an important game, and against Pakistan you’ve got to make sure that you’re on your A game as an opponent,” David Miller said on Wednesday.

“I suppose Pakistan — it’s a must-win game for them, so they’re going to be coming and charging, and we’re definitely prepared for it.”

South Africa made heavy work of a modest chase against India after their fast bowlers did the work up front, but Miller feels that was a learning experience.

“Experience is a really valuable thing, and for example, in the previous game, we were in a little bit of trouble.”

A lesson Pakistan could take from India’s loss to the Proteas is don’t opt to bat and put yourself in the South African fast bowlers crosshairs.

Pitch report

The Adelaide Oval makes use of a drop-in pitch which is always centred in the middle of a huge oval.

While the pitch is batter friendly, the dimensions of the ground can prove a challenge for the less powerful batsman.
