The Proteas won the toss and chose to bat first in their first One Day International against England at the Mangaung Oval.

Skipper Temba Bavuma liked the look of the pitch and was keen to give his batters first use of the strip.

It also means that England will be in the field during the heat of the day.

Bavuma confirmed that Sisanda Magala would return to the Proteas XI.

Naturally it remains to be seen if that is the right decision as this ground has proven to be a difficult one to defend a total on.

Reece Topley and Jofra Archer return to the England ODI lineup.

Harry Brook also makes his England ODI debut, however, Phil Salt misses out.

Incredibly there is no place in the Proteas lineup for either Reeza Hendricks or Janneman Malan.

Buttler said at the toss that he would have had a bowl, backing his team to chase any target in any conditions.

“Bit of refocusing into the 50-over format, a lot of guys have been playing T20, so reconnecting with that,” he said.
