Proteas captain Keshav Maharaj won the toss and elected to bat in the third and deciding one-day international against England at Headingley on Sunday.

Both teams were unchanged from the sides that contested the second ODI at Old Trafford on Friday – a rain-reduced match that world champions England won by 118 runs to level this three-match series at 1-1.

Players to watch

Jason Roy is 46 runs away from scoring 4,000 ODI runs. The odds are stacked against him getting that here as he scored 46 or more in just two of his previous 13 ODIs against South Africa. Having irked England players with his time-wasting antics in the second ODI, Heinrich Klaasen will be a marked man for the hosts. The Protea batter has crossed 20 in four of his last five ODIs but is still searching for his first ODI fifty since a run of three consecutive such scores in February – March 2020.
