Proteas star Laura Wolvaardt had everyone in stitches during her post-match press conference after their 10-wicket win over Bangladesh.

Proteas women’s opener Laura Wolvaardt had everyone in stitches during her post-match press conference on Tuesday after their 10-wicket win over Bangladesh.

South Africa beat Bangladesh by 10 wickets in Cape Town to secure their place in the semi finals of their home Women’s T20 World Cup.

The result sees the Proteas women become the South African national cricket team to progress to the semi-finals of an ICC tournament on home soil.

Wolvaardt, who opened the batting and top-scored with 66* off 56 balls, was in fine form on and off the field.

During her post-game press conference, she was asked a question, but was rather left perplexed when she couldn’t figure out which journalist in the room had addressed her.

Only to be told by those present that the first questioned had come from a journalist via zoom.

The Proteas Women will now take on England in the second semi-final on Friday, 24 February at 15:00 in pursuit of a maiden T20 World Cup final taking place this coming Sunday.  

Australia will take on India in the first semi-final on Thursday, 23 February, also at Newlands at 15:00.
