Proteas suffer injury blow ahead of Ireland ODI on Sunday, 11 July

Proteas paceman Sisanda Magala has been ruled out of South Africa’s tour to Ireland.

Proteas paceman Sisanda Magala has been ruled out of South Africa’s tour to Ireland.

The three-match ODI and three-match T20 tour gets under way with the first ODI on Sunday, 11 July in Dublin with matches also set to take place in Belfast.

The Proteas are coming off Test and T20I series victories in the West Indies.

Magala, who did not feature in the West Indies tour, suffered a left ankle injury during the Ireland squad’s preparations in Grenada.

The Proteas camp confirmed that Magala’s projected recovery time is three to four weeks.

Meanwhile, fast bowler Beuran Hendricks has been retained from the West Indies tour. 

Sunday’s first ODI is scheduled for 11:45 SA time.
