Under Philander’s watch, Pakistan won eight out of nine T20s but cruelly their lone defeat came against eventual winners Australia in the T20 World Cup semi-finals.

Philander is currently with the Pakistan team on tour in Bangladesh.

Vernon Philander had kind words for the Pakistan squad

He left the squad bubble in Chattogram on Monday, the fourth day of the ongoing first Test, and will fly back early on Tuesday because of the “shutdown of flight operations” in South Africa following the emergence of a new Covid-19 Omicron variant.

The Pakistan team posted the video below on their Twitter page and added the words: “Thank you @VDP_24! Team Pakistan give a warm send-off to their bowling consultant Vernon Philander at the end of his stint.”

Philander responded with: “Thank you so much to very special bunch of guys. I have really enjoyed working with all of you. I got to know you all a whole lot better and i will be back. Good luck with the rest of the tour and keep building on the great work that you all have been doing. Love VDP”
