Lance Klusener named coach of Durban franchise for CSA’s new T20 league

Former Proteas all-rounder Lance Klusener has been named as the head coach of the Durban-based franchise for CSA’s new T20 league.

Former Proteas all-rounder Lance Klusener has been named as the head coach of the Durban-based franchise for Cricket South Africa’s (CSA’s) new T20 league.

The team in KwaZulu-Natal is owned by the RPSG group, who are also in charge of Indian Premier League (IPL) side Lucknow Super Giants.

The announcement was made on social media on Monday with Lance Klusener saying: “I am honoured to join the RPSG family. This is a new challenge for me. It makes me very proud.

“I am looking forward to meeting the team.”

Lance Klusener, who played 49 Tests and 171 ODIs for South Africa, has had various coaching roles in international cricket, including with Afghanistan and Zimbabwe.

The T20 league in South Africa is set to kick off in January 2023 with all six owners of the respective franchises from the IPL.
