England vs India: Fifth Test called off due to COVID-19
The fifth and final Test between England and India has been called off after COVID-19 positives rendered the tourists unable to field a team.

The fifth and final Test between England and India has been called off after COVID-19 positives rendered the tourists unable to field a team.
While rumours and hearsay are flying around, it is unclear where this leaves the Test series, which India led 2-1 heading into the final match. There is some suggestion that India may return after the IPL and T20 World Cup to finish the series but this has not been confirmed.
England vs India called off
The ECB, on Friday 10 September, stated: “Following ongoing conversations with the BCCI, the ECB can confirm that the fifth Test between England and India Men due to start today at Old Trafford, will be cancelled.
“Due to fears of a further increase in the number of COVID cases inside the camp, India are regrettably unable to field a team.
“We send our sincere apologies to fans and partners for this news, which we know will cause immense disappointment and inconvenience to many.”
