“Today I announce my retirement from all forms of cricket! Thanks to all who have played a part in my journey whether it be big or small…it’s been a fun ride! Delighted to be taking up a coaching role at Titans cricket”.

In his Proteas career, Chris Morris played four Tests, but was more widely renowned as a white-ball cricketer, which saw him feature in 42 ODIs and 23 T20 internationals.

Chris Morris had been overlooked at Proteas level despite IPL fame

Last year there were still hopes that Morris might represent the Proteas at the T20 World Cup, with the stalwart having signed a record $2.2 million deal with Rajasthan Royals for the 2021 Indian Premier League.

The fact Morris was among the most sought-after IPL players at repeated auction events, but remained unwanted by the Proteas at T20 level, constantly baffled supporters.

It’s believed the arrival of his second child contributed to Morris’ decision to step away from the game and to be able to focus more on his family.
