BREAKING: SuperSport lose IPL broadcast rights

The ever-popular Indian Premier League (IPL), which begins this weekend, will not be shown on SuperSport this year.

Six South Africans including three Proteas will join the 11 others in action during the 2023 IPL in India, which is about to get underway once again.

However, SuperSport have dramatically confirmed on the eve of the tournament that they have lost broadcast rights.

“SuperSport previously held broadcast rights to the IPL. Discussions with the rights holder have unfortunately been unsuccessful and SuperSport will therefore not broadcast the IPL as of this year’s edition,” a short statement read.

The Proteas involved in the ODI series against the Netherlands – which begins on Friday – will only travel to India once it has been concluded.
