Border all out for 16 runs, tie their OWN record as SA’s worst ever!

Border were bowled out for just 16 runs in their second innings of the CSA 3-Day Provincial Cup match against KwaZulu-Natal in Paarl.

Border were bowled out for just 16 runs in their second innings of the CSA 3-Day Provincial Cup match against KwaZulu-Natal in Paarl on Saturday.

Border lost the match by an innings and 179 runs.

KwaZulu-Natal had made 361 in their first innings to which Border replied with 166 and were asked to follow-up.

However, that second innings didn’t go so well.

In fact it lasted just 11.4 overs, although two players did not bat. Nonelela Yikha top-scored with seven.

Incredibly, Border’s total of just 16 runs tied their own “record” of lowest innings score in SA first-class cricket in 1959 – also against Natal!

In that match Border made 16 and 18.

Border now embarrassingly hold the four lowest totals posted in SA first-class cricket.

Border’s struggles were not lost on sports journalist Graeme Joffe who questioned where the R50 million the Border union had received over the past five years had gone.
