During the start of the highly successful SA20 competition, several local players have dramatically enhanced their reputations or suddenly forced their way onto the national radar. As it is, young Sunrisers Eastern Cape batsman Jordan Hermann is one of the players who has caught the eye of viewers who have been looking to identify the “next gen” of future stars.

The 21-year-old notably made 432 runs at an average of 86.40 in the last Four-Day series, while he has also shown glimpses of his ability in the One-Day and T20 formats.

Interestingly, former Proteas icon AB de Villiers has in fact identified Hermann as one of the players who has especially impressed him.

“At the top of my head, among the batters is Jordan Hermann. I didn’t even know about him before the tournament, to be honest,” De Villiers said, as quoted by Sport24. “I heard his name once, and then I watched him bat, and I was really impressed.”

De Villiers even hinted that he would enjoy an opportunity to work with these sorts of players in some form of coaching capacity.

“I would love to work with these batters. I really have a lot of passion in regards to that. You have to evolve as a player. If you stagnate, you will end up not enjoying the game. I think there need to be constant check-ups. I think that’s what kept me fresh. I always wanted to raise the bar every single season until the very end.”
