AB de Villiers, Gibbs praise Brevis after smashing historic 162!

Teenage sensation Dewald Brevis smashed a historic 162 off 57 balls while in action for the Titans in the CSA T20 Challenge on Monday.

Brevis, who played for the Mumbai Indians in this year’s IPL, is regarded as one of the brightest prospects in South African cricket, with his style of batting drawing clear-cut comparisons with former Proteas legend AB de Villiers.

As it turned out, De Villiers was one of those who commented on Twitter as social media went wild as attention was drawn to Brevis’ quite sensational innings of 162 off 57 balls against the Knights. His century included 13 fours and 13 sixes.

His score was the third highest individual score in all T20 cricket history.

Brevis will be one of the players in the spotlight when the inaugural T20 League takes place in South Africa next year. MI Cape TownΒ have already announced the signing of five star players ahead of the inaugural Cricket South Africa T20 League, which included Brevis.

The ‘MI Cape Town’ team includes three foreign players Sam CurranLiam Livingstone (both England) and Rashid Khan (Afghanistan) along with Brevis and Kagiso Rabada as part of the squad.

Brevis will compete against and alongside some of the best cricketers in the world

Over 30 marquee international players have already been signed by the League. This is in addition to all contracted Proteas and domestic players who have committed to the League.

The six franchises will have a squad of 17 players, and will be able to pre-sign up to five players made up of three international players, one Proteas player and one uncapped South African player prior to the auction.

Players from across a host of countries have expressed their interest to be a part of the League and are currently being signed up for the 2023 season and beyond.
