South Africa’s Tete Dijana won the 95th edition of the Comrades Marathon between Pietermaritzburg and Durban on Sunday.

Dijana, a security guard from Mmabatho in the North West province, crossed the finish line at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in an unofficial time of 5:30:38 covering the 89.885km at an average of 3:41 per kilometre.

Defending champion Edward Mothibi took second place in 5:33:46.

Tete Dijana won R260 000 in official prize money – as well as a gold medal – along with no doubt lucrative bonuses from his Nedbank Running Club.
