Cape Town City have made a big financial sacrifice to ensure that there will be more bums on seats when they take on AmaZulu in their next league fixture.

The Citizens square off against Usuthu at Cape Town Stadium on Saturday, 27 October, and have slashed ticket prices from R60 to just R20 for the fixture.

The club made the announcement on Friday, stating that they took the measure in response to the growing home crowd attendance experienced in only their third season in the top flight.

“We work tirelessly to offer the best possible matchday experience at the lowest price, but it all comes at a cost,” Cape Town City said in a statement.

“The rental alone to host matches at the Cape Town Stadium ensures that the club makes a considerable financial loss at each and every home game (besides vs Chiefs, Pirates and Sundowns).

“That being said, we have experienced exponential growth in our fan base each season, and for this, we must commend the supporters that contribute behind the scenes for the love of this city, this club and the beautiful game.”

According to the club, their recent home defeat against Kaizer Chiefs saw an attendance of around 35 000, while the midweek loss to Bidvest Wits saw about 10 000 people cross the turnstiles.
