Those not subscribed to DSTV can now be sure to catch Bafana Bafana game against Libya after the SABC and the South African Football Association (Safa) finally resolved the long-standing issue over broadcast rights.

Last month negotiations between the two parties hit a brick wall, resulting in uncertainty over whether matches featuring the national football teams would be broadcast on free-to-air TV in the foreseeable future.

However, two days before Bafana Bafana were set to take the field against The Mediterranean Knight at Moses Mabhida Stadium, Safa revealed – via a statement that they had come to an amicable solution with the SABC, and the match will now be broadcast live.

“We are pleased to announce that we have resolved the outstanding issues and I would like to thank the SABC in making sure that the nation will watch their favourite sport on the national broadcaster,” said SAFA President, Dr Danny Jordaan.

“I would also like to thank the Ministries of Sport and Recreation SA and Communications for working hard to resolve this matter.”
