2018 French Open: Everything y

South Africa’s Kevin Anderson starts his French Open campaign on Tuesday as he attempts to reach the quarterfinal stage for the first time.

The world number seven, who is seeded sixth for this year’s tournament, will open his account against Italy’s Paolo Lorenzi.

Anderson has a 4-0 lead over the Italian in head-to-head meetings. The last time they met was during the fourth round at last year’s US Open which the South African won in four sets, 6-4, 6-3, 6-7 (4), 6-4. They have also played once on clay with Anderson the winner in two tight sets, 7-5, 7-6, in Geneva, Switzerland in 2017.

On paper, Anderson should book his spot in the second round with ease. He could possibly face tough opponents like Argentina’s 11th seed Diego Schwartzmann, Philip Kohlschreiber of Germany seeded 22nd, Spain’s Feliciano López, seeded 28th later on and will need to preserve all the energy he can.
