Man arrested for a BURGLARY committed in 2011

When the man was searched and arrested by police he was found found with a hunting rifle and shotgun.

MAN ARRESTED FOR CRIME COMMITED IN 2011

After he was found in possession of the two firearms, police linked the one firearm to a burglary and theft committed in KwaMsane in KwaZulu-Natal in 2011.

North West police spokesperson Colonel Adéle Myburgh said the man was searched and arrested for having a hunting rifle, a shotgun, as well as 109 various ammunition.

SUSPECT ALREADY APPEARED IN COURT

“Further investigation into the matter revealed that one of the firearms is linked to burglary and theft committed in 2011. The suspect appeared before Orkney Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, March 22, 2023,” Myburgh said.

In another case, a man allegedly strangled his 80-year-old neighbour to death and shot two other people dead in Limpopo. According to the police, the man attacked his 80-year-old neighbour first at Lwamondo Mutandani village outside Thohoyandou.

“The suspect went to Thohoyandou Block Q, where he shot and killed a man and his partner before fleeing the scene. The incident took place on Thursday 23 March 2023,” said Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo.

Mojapelo said they found the bodies of the male and female victims with gunshot wounds when they arrived.

“Preliminary investigations showed that the man entered the premises and shot the victims at gunpoint. He then fled the scene in a motor vehicle. A case of two counts of murder was then opened.”
