Six men posing as police involved in home invasion

An armed robbery occurred at a residence in KwaZulu-Natal after six men gained entry by pretending to be police

Six men dressed as police officers are being sought in connection with a home invasion on Summit Drive in Redcliffe, KwaZulu-Natal, on Tuesday, 18 January.

Four suspects wore police bulletproof vests

At approximately 22:06, Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received a call for assistance.

When Reaction Officers arrived, the victims informed them that six men had arrived at their home and identified themselves as police officers.

Four suspects were dressed in South African Police Service (SAPS) bulletproof vests.

Once inside, the robbers took out firearms and ordered the victims to remain silent.

Four children among the victims

The victims included three men, five women, and four children.

Before ransacking the house in search of valuables, the robbers cable-tied the adult victims’ hands and forced them into one of the bedrooms.

Eight cellphones and two television sets were stolen.

The victims could not confirm what vehicle the suspects arrived in at the time of the crime.

After the suspects fled, the victims managed to free themselves from their restraints and contacted RUSA for assistance.

There were no injuries reported in the incident.
