80-year-old SMOTHERED during home invasion in KwaZulu-Natal
While sleeping, an 80-year-old man was SMOTHERED with a pillow when several suspects ransacked his home in KwaZulu-Natal

An 80-year-old man was smothered with a pillow during a home invasion on Sun Crescent in Lotusville – KwaZulu-Natal on Friday, 23 December.
Man smothered with pillow while sleeping
At approximately 21:23, Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received a call for assistance.
Reaction Officers arrived and met with the elderly man who lives alone in the main building.
He explained that a pillow was placed over his face while he was sleeping in an attempt to suffocate him.
The victim could hear movement in the house, confirming that there was more than one suspect present. Before fleeing, his assailant left the pillow over his face.
The victim raised the alarm and alerted neighbors, who contacted RUSA for assistance.
Officers inspecting the property discovered that the entire house had been ransacked. The security locks appeared to have been opened with the key.
A safe and cash were discovered to be missing. The visibly shaken victim was unable to provide a description of his assailants.
