“I cannot get far enough,” said Claire Stanley from Kempton Park in Johannesburg. The mother of three said simply “walking away” is not enough claiming she often leaves the province to distance herself.

In other parts of the country clear-minded citizens just “get on a bus” or take a different route to work. The corporate world, possibly the most shaken by the latest events, is also taking action.

“I literally moved my desk,” said Standard Bank adviser Sipho Mokoena.

Racists have meanwhile pleaded for forgiveness saying they don’t know why everyone is taking their comments so personally. But their pleas have only made matters worse.
