Nigerian government powerless

Nigerian government powerless against Boko Haram, aims for easier target instead… same-sex couples

Terrorists run rampant throughout Nigeria with no sign of slowing, bad luck Jonathan’s governement has no means of fighting them and all the while he imposes laws similar to those Boko Haram themselves would enforce were they in power.

Nigerian government powerless

Look, when it comes to good governance, Nigeria isn’t exactly an example anyone should be following. They’re all-but-useless president, Goodluck Jonathan — LOL — spends more of his time imposing anti-human-rights laws banning homosexuality than he does fighting the terrorists who are slaughering entire villages.

As a grand display of how serious Jonathan is about eliminating homosexuality from his embattled nation, his Sharia police recently arrested 12 teenagers who were allegedly attending a gay wedding. No, they weren’t slaughtering 2000 innocents or actively working at usurping the rule of Jonathan… they were at a ‘wedding’.

The okes said it was just a birthday, but if Islamic law has taught us anything it’s that reason is a luxury ill-afforded. The guys were arrested in the North of Nigeria, where Islam is the order of the day — Nigeria is divided equally into the Islamic North and Christian South — and Boko Haram was born… go figure.

Said Aminu Daurawa, the head of the Sharia police or Hisbah — unfortunately Nigeria’s profficiency in setting up pointless beurocratic agencies hasn’t translated into fighting the biggest threat the African continent has faced since colonialism –: “We have 12 men in custody, including the bride. We arrested them at the venue of a planned gay wedding. We got information of the wedding four days earlier and our men stormed the venue while the wedding was about to start.”

Listen, some presidents have the wellbeing of their people and regional peace as priorities… others just want to arrest teenagers and let terrorists roam freely throughout their country. To each his own.
