Democratic Alliance leader Mmusi Maimane said that President Jacob Zuma would only laugh if he was questioned about job creation (or the lack thereof) in South Africa.

Thousands of DA members marched through the streets of Johannesburg on Wednesday to create awareness about unemployment in the country.

Maimane said that South Africa will not stay free as long as they are struggling for jobs. It’s estimated that around 8.3 million South Africans are unemployed.

“They are now saying ‘genoeg is genoeg’ [enough is enough], and they are joining the blue brigade.

“It is time for a change. We are saying Zuma must fall, [and] the ANC must fall,” Maimane said.

According to News24, Athol Trollip, DA mayoral candidate for Nelson Mandela Bay in the upcoming local government elections, told the crowd in English and Zulu, that the ANC had broken the promises it had made to the people.

“Under the ANC’s leadership, they have killed our children’s education and in turn killed their chances of getting jobs,” he said.

“We want the people of South Africa to see that the DA is serious about creating jobs and improving our country’s economy.”
