Zuma scrambles to have new Public Protector ‘review’ State of Capture report

Zuma’s taken former Public Protector Thuli Madonsela’s State of Capture report to the Pretoria High Court, asking that that the report – which implicates himself and a host of his cronies in some pretty nefarious activities – be sent to new PP – and according to the DA a ‘Zuma spy’ – Busisiwe Mkhwebane for ‘further investigation’.

In a report by EWN, Marinus Wiechers, a Constitutional law expert, says the president will no doubt want to drag the implementation of the remedial actions suggested by the report out as long as possible.

Zuma believes Madonsela’s recommendations – that a commission of inquiry is set up, independent of presidential influence under the guidance of the judiciary, to investigate her findings – are unlawful, but Wiechers believes this is just another Nkandla… and we all know how that one ended.

“The Public Protector has remedial actions, she can, she may instruct,” Wiechers said, adding that it looks a lot like Zuma and his lawyers are trying to delay the inevitable.

“It’s very obvious that this is a method to drag this issue for more time.”
