State witness in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial, Zandie Khumalo, has contradicted the evidence given by Mthokozisi Thwala regarding the alleged fight between her sister Kelly and Meyiwa’s wife Mandisa.

Meyiwa was shot at the home of his then girlfriend and singer Kelly Khumalo on 26 October 2014 in Vosloorus, Gauteng. He was then rushed to Botshelong Hospital in an attempt to save his life.

DID KELLY AND MANDISA FIGHT AT BOTSHELONG HOSPITAL?

On her second day in the stand at the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria, Khumalo continued to tell her version of events about what happened after Meyiwa was shot.

Khumalo said when they arrived at the hospital Meyiwa was taken by nurses and they were told to wait on the benches. After a while a medical practitioner (the witness couldn’t recall if it was a doctor or a nurse) asked for an elder and her mother who had arrived with Longwe at the hospital then went. She later informed them that Senzo was no more.

She said moments after Meyiwa was declared dead, Mandisa showed up at BotshelongHospital with a couple of friends.

“They went straight to Kelly and assaulted her, and pulled out two of her braids. Mandisa kept saying said you killed him, you killed him (Senzo),” Khumalo said.

Khumalo’s version contradicts that of Mthokozisi Thwala who said there was never a fight between the two women.

Thwala said Mandisa was next to her all the time. She and Kelly embraced each other after Meyiwa was declared dead.

‘I SAW HAIR ON THE FLOOR’

Another State witness, Tumelo Madlala also testified that Kelly and Mandisa fought at the hospital.

“It became very full at the hospital, Orlando Pirates soccer players also arrived. It became chaotic by the glass doors of the hospital. I think Mandisa and Kelly had an altercation. I then saw hair (which he described as braids) on the floor. I am not sure whether it was Mandisa or her friends, but there was a fight and I saw hair,” Madlala told the court.
