An unnamed South African actress has filed a divorce application that includes some hefty personal demands against her “world-famous DJ” husband at the Johannesburg High Court, with a R13 million house, R80 000 a month maintenance for the estranged couple’s two children and R50 000 a month for herself for the next five years among the requests on her wish-list.

The court papers filed earlier in February only named the couple as “M vs M” with the Divorce Act protecting divorcing couples embroiled in legal proceedings from being identified, and this has led to a frenzied speculation mill churning out theories about the identity the feuding soon-to-be ex couple.

Actress wife’ demanding millions from ‘extremely wealthy’ DJ husband

The warring couple had initially entered into a customary marriage in community of property in 2011 before entering into a civil marriage in January 2017. The knot remained tied in any manner of civil fashion for only a short time thereafter though.

Divorce proceedings between the pair began back in 2017, but while the couple agree that the marriage has broken down to an untenable degree, the finalisation of the separation has been persistently held up by the DJ and his actress spouse’s differing opinions on how the household’s loot should be split up.

According to the court papers, the wife in question described her husband as “an extremely wealthy individual, earning up to R100 million per annum”. The husband agreed with the flattering appraisal of his financial health and also settled on the decision that his children should live with their mother while he “travels the world to pursue his profession as a world-class disc jockey”.

Social media speculates on couple’s identity

Many on social media have speculated that several high-profile South African couples may be at the centre of the bitter divorce. While the court has prohibited the explicit naming of the pair, it’s clear that the DJ in question is a serious export who has accumulated substantial international acclaim.

The court documents also suggest that the aggrieved husband is the “second richest musician in Africa”. Knosinathi Maphumulu – better known as Black Coffee – ranks third on that rich-list, according to Forbes Africa. DJ Euphonik ranked fifth on the list of richest South African musicians in 2020, with Steve Hofmeyr topping that particular list. According to Net Worth Portal, AKA is the second richest musician in South Africa with a net worth of R155,6 million.

We’ll leave it to you to do the detective work on this one.
