Unemployed woman, 50, from Oudtshoorn wins R31m in Lotto PLUS 1

An unemployed woman in her fifties struck lucky in the Lotto PLUS 1 draw. She hails from Oudtshoorn in the Western Cape.
WOMAN FROM OUDTSHOORN COLLECTS LOTTO WINNINGS
According to the national lottery operator, Ithuba, the woman spent R40 on her winning ticket. It was purchased at Dahley & Khandaker and she opted for the manual selection method.
She won more than R31m. Before hitting the jackpot, the most she had ever won in National Lottery games was R150.
“I was extremely shocked when I found out that I had won, however I don’t plan to change my life in any drastic way,” said the LOTTO PLUS 1 winner.
The woman checked her winnings online and was at home when she made the discovery. She is reportedly concerned about people finding out about her newfound fortune and has only told her immediate family.
The winner plans to spend her winnings on her family. She is also considering investing a portion of it and “giving back to those who are in need.”
In an unrelated matter, the winner of the massive R126 million PowerBall jackpot claimed her winnings on Friday, 20 May.
“I believe the spirit of gratitude and giving, is what has landed me here at this point in my life. I am yet to digest the news, I need time to re-evaluate the situation and apply my mind,” said the woman from Florida, Johannesburg.
