EFF demand ‘boycott’ of eNCA, after journalist sparks racism row

eNCA journalist Lindsay Dentlinger has drawn the ire of the EFF, after she was accused of showing her ‘racial bias’ during a series of interviews.

Lindsay Dentlinger has found herself at the centre of a social media storm on Thursday, after footage from some of her recent interviews allegedly showed her ‘unconcious racial bias’. The claims have been echoed by several organisations, including the EFF, who are now calling for a total boycott of eNCA.

eNCA ‘racism’ row – who is Lindsay Dentlinger?

After the Budget Speech on Wednesday, Dentlinger allowed FF Plus leader Pieter Groenewald to talk on camera without a mask. However, the same privilege was not awarded to UDM Deputy Nqabayomzi Kwankwa…

He was instantly told to put his face covering on, before the journalist started asking him questions. The row was exacerbated when a clip of a similar incident, also involving Lindsay Dentlinger, was uploaded shortly afterwards.

EFF demand boycott of major broadcaster

As of 14:35 on Thursday, eNCA are yet to issue a statement on the matter. However, the rage is palpable on social media. Lindsay Dentlinger, along with her employers, has been trending on Twitter throughout the day. Inevitably, the debate has caught the attention of the EFF – who teed off in bombastic fashion.

Making themselves heard via a party statement, the Red Berets say these ‘micro-aggressions’ are indicative of a ‘deep-seated hatred’ for black citizens. Julius Malema and his comrades are now demanding that South Africans swerve eNCA:

“These actions are known as micro-aggressions and reveal a deep-seated disrespect of black people by a news agency the EFF has long identified as a propaganda arm of white monopoly capital. The actions of the journalist vindicate the EFF’s stance, that there is a culture of racism at eNCA.”

“We reiterate our call for the boycotting of this racist news platform, who are handled by Johann Rupert. All self-respecting organizations should follow suit, and never allow themselves to be disrespected by a fake news agency who strike to undermine black people.”
