Whitney Houston’s estate launch make-up collection

Even if you don’t have the powerhouse vocal chops, you can still channel your inner Houston with her make-up collection.

Whitney Houston was not only a vocal powerhouse, but she was also a beauty icon who influenced blonde curls, the wavy bob, 90s diva eyes, and the famous red lipstick embracing glamor with a personal touch.

In honouring the I will always love you, singer, FASHIONISTA reports that MAC cosmetics in collaboration with Houston’s estate launched a make-up collection on 6 December 2022, inspired by Houston’s signature Glam. ‘

The limited-edition collection with products and shades in line with Houston’s personal style includes 12 products housed in metallic gold packaging.

WHITNEY HOUSTON EMBODIES SOPHISTICATION

The collection features an eight-pan eyeshadow pallete replete with shimmery shades, four bold red lipstick shades, two lip glosses, blush, powder, and a set of Houston’s esque false lashes.

“This collection captures the hues and finishes that were essential to Whitney’s most memorable looks,” said MAC senior artist Fatima Thomas.

Thomas adds that the collection embodies sophistication that caters to every beauty lover. Most of the collection includes Houston’s childhood nickname Nippy.

Pat Houston who is the executor of Houston’s estate says Houston loved feeling beautiful at all times, be she is attending a major event or just for everyday wear.

“Whitney loved playing with colours on the lips and eyes, that iconic red lip was always a favourite of hers,” she said. 

I WANNA DANCE WITH SOMEBODY

This collection launched in time for the holiday season, and just before her upcoming biopic I Wanna Dance With Somebody, which will be released at cinemas on 23 December 2022.

Eleven years following Houston’s unfortunate death in a bathtub, several biopics and documentaries have been released in honour of The Voice.

Houston’s life has always been surrounded by controversy with the past biopics reflecting on her struggles with addiction and her abusive relationship with her ex-husband Bobby Brown.

Finding its lead in Naomi Ackie I Wanna Dance With Somebody highlights the good and bad moments of Houston’s career such as her performance of the Star Spangled Banner, her wedding, and the criticism she received for not being black enough.
