Which SA network company has the best network quality?
Research by MyBroadband reveals the best mobile network in South Africa.
MyBroadband has released its Q4 2017 Mobile Network Quality Report, which shows that MTN has the best network in South Africa.
How the results are achieved
The report is based on 113,117 Speed Tests which were performed by 8,250 MyBroadband Android Speed Test App users across South Africa between 1 October 2017 and 31 December 2017.
The report shows that South Africa had an average mobile download speed of 19.29Mbps in the fourth quarter of 2017.
Highest average download speeds
- MTN had the highest average download speed at 22.20Mbps
- Vodacom on 21.63Mbps
- Telkom on 15.35Mbps.
Best mobile network in South Africa
The download speed (70%), upload speed (20%), and latency (10%) are used to calculate a network quality score.
The network quality score is a value which shows the relative performance of networks, with a maximum score of 10. To ensure accurate results, unnatural results are filtered out, and cell down-sampling is used.
MTN reigned supreme with a Network Quality Score of 9.98, followed by Vodacom on 9.38, Telkom on 6.72, and Cell C on 6.41.
