A 21-year-old international relations student has gone missing in Gauteng. Thami Mashiane, a third-year student at Wits University, hasn’t been seen since Sunday morning.

It’s understood she had left home to visit the university in order to sort out her financial aid agreement. However, Thami never completed that journey. Her friends say that they never saw her arrive on campus over the weekend, and her family have gone more than 72 hours without knowing her whereabouts.

Thami Mashiane latest – what we know so far:

A campaign has been launched on social media to help find the Wits student. This is everything we know about Thami Mashiane on the day she went missing.

  • Her last known whereabouts was at Chartman Court, on the corner of King George and Bok Street, in Joubert Park.
  • She left this location at 9:45 on Sunday.
  • She was wearing a Heineken cap, a baby blue top and a denim jacket before her disappearance.
  • Thami Mashiane was also wearing Lacoste slides and white striped pints.

Desperate search for missing Wits student

Friends of Thami have been frantically appealing for all the help they can get on social media. Several search parties have been deployed to Braamfontein – where it was suggested the 21-year-old may have wandered to – but ultimately, there have been no breakthroughs in the case.

Elsewhere, a heartbreaking plea has been launched by the older brother of the missing learner. He believes that she has been seen hanging around a bar called Kitcheners, and allegedly went off with a car guard. Those with any information on the case are encouraged to directly get in contact with Nino Mashiane.
