Eureka: ‘Alleged conman’ linked to new whites-only town reported to SAHRC

Heavily involved in illegal mining, Louis Liebenberg also has connections to the ‘whites-only’ Eureka town. But a ‘racist video’ has landed him in trouble.

Louis Liebenberg, who has been accused of having connections to the whites-only town of Eureka in the Northern Cape through the infamous Adriaan Nieuwoudt – has had a complaint of racism filed against him by a local representative of the DA. Liebenberg filmed himself doing a ‘racist impression’ of Cyril Ramaphosa this week.

Who is Louis Liebenberg? Racist video reported to SAHRC

The clip itself is an uncomfortable watch, and after delivering a string of racist tropes to camera, the controversial businessman has been referred to the SA Human Rights Commisison (SAHRC). The video, which features below, contains the following:

His vocal impression, described as ‘crude’, exaggerates Ramaphosa’s speech patterns in an offensive manner.
The clip infers that being black ‘gives you license to be corrupt’.
He trots-out several other distasteful remarks, as displayed in the video below.

Eureka-linked figure slammed for racism

Veronica van Dyk is the party’s Constituency Head of Kamiesberg. She attacked the very character of Louis Liebenberg, slamming him for his association with the town of Eureka and his ‘illegal mining’ exploits.

“We have reported the racist behavior of well-known diamond ponzi schemer, Louis Liebenberg, to the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC). Liebenberg is no stranger to controversy. His latest venture seems to be joining forces with the founder of all-white ‘Eureka’ community in Garies, Adriaan Niewoudt.”
“Liebenberg presents himself as a close ally of the Nama people. He was also a key instigator in spurring on illegal diamond mining in Namakwaland. There’s no ethical validation for Liebenberg’s actions and his skit is downright rude. There’s no place for racism, in any form, in South Africa. He must be held accountable.”

Where is Eureka? New whites-only town in the mould of Orania

For the uninitiated, the Eureka settlement is the latest brainwave of Adriaan Nieuwoudt, who also has a suspicious history related to Ponzi-schemes. Back in March 2019, he said that he was building a whites-only town in the interests of ‘safety and preservation’ for his race. Thousands of people have registered their interest.

Louis Liebenberg, meanwhile, has been linked to several scams in the Northern Cape, and his most recent attempt to allegedly defraud local residents has led to the creation of several Facebook groups that seek legal action against the wheeler-dealer.
