The South African Weather Service (SAWS) issued a Yellow Level 2 warning for thunderstorms in Mpumalanga on Friday, 25 November. The warning key indicates there is a high likelihood of minor weather-based impacts.
The weather warning is valid from 13:00 until 23:59 on Friday. Severe thunderstorms are expected over the Highveld and escarpment areas of Mpumalanga.
“These storms may produce heavy downpours, large hail, damaging winds, and excessive lightning, which will lead to localised flooding, localised disruptions of municipality and communication services, as well as injuries to humans and livestock,” said the weather service.
