IMPACT-BASED WARNINGS:

  1. Yellow level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms over Gauteng, the southeastern parts of the North West province and northeastern parts of the Free State with heavy downpours and strong winds, which may cause localized flooding of susceptible formal/informal settlements or roads, low-lying areas and bridges.

Gauteng:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and warm with scattered showers and thundershowers from the afternoon.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Very High.

Mpumalanga:

Temperature: Cloudy and cool to warm with isolated afternoon thundershowers, except in the extreme north-east.

Limpopo:

Temperature: Cloudy and cool to warm with isolated afternoon thundershowers in the south.

North-West Province:

Temperature: Partly cloudy in the east, otherwise fine and warm to hot, becoming partly cloudy with isolated showers and thundershowers, but scattered in the central and southeastern parts.

Free State:

Temperature: Cloudy in the east where it will be cool, otherwise fine and warm to hot, becoming partly cloudy with isolated showers and thundershowers over the central and eastern parts, but scattered in the north.

Northern Cape:

Temperature: Fine and warm to hot, but very hot in the north. It will become partly cloudy in the north with isolated showers and thundershowers.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong southerly to south-easterly.

Western Cape:

Temperature: Partly cloudy over the central karoo in the morning, otherwise fine and warm to hot but very hot over the northern parts of the west coast.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong easterly to south-easterly becoming southerly to south-westerly north of Cape Columbine by late morning.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Extreme.

Eastern Cape:

The Western halfTemperature: Partly cloudy with patches of mist in places in the north during the morning, otherwise fine and warm but cool along the coast and adjacent interior.

The Western Half – Wind: The wind along the coast will be Light north easterly, becoming moderate to fresh easterly.

The Eastern halfTemperature: Cloudy and cool with rain in places south of the escarpment in the morning, becoming partly cloudy from the west from the early afternoon.

The Eastern halfWind: The wind along the coast will be Light easterly, becoming moderate to fresh north easterly in the afternoon.

Kwazulu-Natal:

Temperature: Partly cloudy with morning rain except in the north-east and morning fog over the interior, otherwise cold to cool but warm in the north-east. Isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers are expected in the north west.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be Moderate to fresh southerly to south-easterly becoming moderate easterly to north-easterly from the south by afternoon.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Moderate.
